better than love

NO MORE EXAMS
Joyjoyjoyjoyjoy! :)

I decorated my calendar since I've been neglecting it, now I'm motivated to use it more! :)

Sleep, food, friends, and Hurts: what else do I need for the perfect weekend? <3

smile, and the world will smile with you

The math exam that I so dread is now over. Finito. The feeling of relief washes through me after, what could be called the hardest exam of the exam week! It went okayish, there were some very very weird questions though where I got some obscure answer for :D My motto for math is : Don't question it. Many people ask why to when they do math, but I think that as long as you see the logic and know how things go, that's enough, otherwise you might confuse yourself too much. Minutes before the exam were terrible, my nerves were pulsing like crazy, due to the math group before us coming out looking like zombies. Reassuring, right? It's over now though and I can breathe, but only a little, because there's still the psychology exam to do. Most people tend to also come out of the exams all sad and unsure, while I just decide to shake it off and end up being the only one nonchalant. Positivity, it's better that way! :) If it has already happened, you can't change it anymore, so just smile.

one down, four to go

Finnish Exam: Check! Finished it today from 10-12, and I gotta say, it wasn't THAT bad, though I'm still predicting an okayish grade for it because we only had two hours to produce two pieces of text......which isn't a lot of time. Anyways, here's the weekend, filled with studying and more studying. Hooray! There is a plus side to exam week though: you get nearly an entire day off after the exam which is only a few hours.

Notes on how to write a Finnish commentary!

I made a study plan though, to try to keep myself in place and schedule, no procrastination should happen (though some will..... :D ). Whew, let's hope for good results, me and my lovely class, no tears during return day unless they're tears of joy ;)

Found these earrings a few days ago, owls are adorable! :)

Recently, I've been taking the bus to school instead of the train, though the train is faster, because I love how relaxed and long the bus ride is. I get time to do extra things in the bus if I want, and listen to music more :) It's also advantageous during exam week because it means more time to study in the morning and review, hehee :D

Also, Master Chef America Season 1 finals this Sunday on TV!! I've been waiting for it the entire week, they left me off with a cliffhanger of not knowing the second finalist, grr! Before I watched shows on the internet because I was impatient, but now I'm too lazy for that :D Cooking shows are awesome, such as Master Chef and Top Chef. They have excitement, superior cooking skills, and THE most delicious food you will see in your life. Yes please!

The judges in Master Chef! (notice Gordon Ramsey :D)

Your mouth should be watering by now ;)

spread the warmth

Can you think of anything nicer than a warm, delicious cup of hot chocolate in the morning?

The last week before exam week is running along, and the horror starts this Friday for me with a Finnish exam. Gah, a bit worried because my writing skills are a bit rusty in Finnish, so that's gonna cost me some points :S Well I'm just gonna do my best and see how it goes! At least it's later in the morning so I get some sleep. Phew. Then we have the weekend and exam week kicks off with English on Monday, a day off on Tuesday (because I don't have Swedish so I can use that day for more studying), French on Wednesday, math (ohhhhcrap) on Thursday, and psychology on Friday. Then a three-day weekend <3 So a prize sits at the end of the work, gotta keep my eye on it :)

I've been a but lazy this term, so I might not be that well prepared with some subjects. This just proves that procrastination is gonna kick ya in the ass real hard, and you can only blame yourself for it. Damn :D

The Versace collection for H&M is out here on the 18th of November I believe! I'm not getting anything, but here are some of my favorites from the collection :)

From the Versace Facebook page.

ps. I love Arnold's bagels and donuts, they're beyond good.

la di daa

Rosy affair, you took my heart for a little while. I wish I could stay with you tonight, I'm going home

There was school on Saturday for an Open Doors event, which meant that parents could come in and observe the lessons (in other words check if we were actually learning anything :D ). I was NOT happy, just felt like sleeping through the day. It shouldn't be legal for students to go to school 6 days a week! Damn it. There was a concert by Ressu students, which was perfect! The music was great, the singers sounded beautiful, and the atmosphere was soaring. So much talent :) Went to the city after that for a walk and took pictures of the randomest things.

So cool, all buses should look like this!

A thought that has been ringing in my head is the fact that CHRISTMAS IS HERE SOON, oh my. Present shopping awaits! :D Though my budget is now nonexistent, I'll have to think of something or just DIY stuff :)

Stores filled with wintery items :)

It's Fathers Day today, so happy fathers day to all the dads in the world, hope you all the best! :)

the road to happiness hurts

Everybody around me is already tired of hearing me talking about this, but I'll say it here as well.

Hurts

I abosultely love Hurts. They're my favorite band :) I never thought that I'd be one of the people with just one favorite band, because I thought that I'd never like a band that much. Guess I was wrong huh? I love them for their emotional, atmospheric, and beeeautiful music! The guys in the synth-pop duo, Theo and Adam, are also very funny, nice, and great people too. I can listen to their songs anytime, anywhere, and for as long as possible. That's when I noticed that I really like them: I loved every single song on their album! People say that the album is sad, and I guess it might sound like it, but Hurts said it themselves: The album was written when they were miserable, so the album records that point of their lives when they were on the road to happiness. And the biggest thing: they sounds like pure gold live, I mean even better than usual! I appreciate that too, because most bands sound completely different on album and live.

Theo Hutchcraft & Adam Anderson <3
Happiness: my favorite album :)

"We say goodbye in the pouring rain, and I break down as you walk away. Stay. Stay. Cause all my life, I've felt this way, but I could never find the words to say. Stay. Stay" - Stay, Hurts

Probably their most known single :)

Today was the day that happens once every century. 11.11.11 11.11.11. :) And it feels better than love <3 The link goes to a version of Better Than Love which I think is brilliant!

You probably think I'm crazy now, but that's allright ;)

chocolate is good for you

The view from a school window

Fazer: heavenly goodness that can save any bad day. Their chocolate is amazing, not to mention their other sweets, breads and such. Last week I managed to get two of their big original milk chocolate bars for one euro each! SCORE. They're usually 2.40€ or so I believe :) It's perfect to nibble on a bit once in awhile, like a little boost of sweetness that brings a smile to your face. Chocolate (mainly dark though) has even been proven to improve your mood ;)

J'adore!

Got a customer card (?) and my very first lipstick, in the shade Soft Red 21 from Body Shop :)

crystal glaze on leaves

There.Is.Frost.Outside.Already.
I knew it, ha-ha! My prediction was that before exam week or during it, which is in a week and a half, there will be snow of some sort: tiny, fluffy, any kind. The frost is only evidence to my theory that seems to be coming true. That's not good, but hey Finland has never seized to amaze me with the radical weather changes, so maybe it's going to be 20°C and sunny? Yup, sounds completely accurate in a country where winter is the dominant season. Winter is pretty nice though, the snow is gorgeous and it's nice to get to use warm, fluffy hats and mittens :) My birthday is in Februrary too, so that's a bonus. Let's not forget that winter equals warm food, so I get to utilize my baking skills even more! Chocolate-chip cookies, cheesecake, brownies, gingerbread cookies, etc. Oh yeah!

Summer 2011, Haukipudas

Yesterday, I failed in life miserably. Usually I take the R or H train home to Tikkurila, because they're the fast ones that only take me around 14 minutes. So I walk to Helsinki Central Train Station, and upon arriving there I spot a train similar to the one I usually take, also having the same destination. It didn't have a letter on it, but a huge amount of people were going in so I assumed that it must stop at Tikkurila, where many live. So I get in all oblivious, listening to music and texting a friend. At one point when I take off my earphones to listen to the announcement about the stops, I realize they skipped my stop and instead said "Kyrölä". I squinch my face, and when I realize that the train didn't slow down near Tikkurila, all I could think about it  "Shitshitshit, this is NOT happening to me!" So of course, the train zooms past my stop like a bullet, and the next stop Kyrölä is about 20 minutes away from mine. All I could see from the window was trees, trees, trees, and oh did I mention trees? Getting off, I see no people, nearly no houses, and a huuuuuge piece of grass and land. I am literally in the middle of nowhere. Luckily a fast train back the other way came quick, but hell I am neverever taking a unanimous train anymore. That's enough adventure for awhile.

The view from Kyrölä Train Station (which was deserted and creepy btw)

"We watched the rockets kiss the sky, I saw the flames burn out in your eyes."

here we go

watcha lookin' at?
You know it's Monday when the first thing that happens in school is that you drop your iPhone on the floor and have a massive heart attack <3 Also a "test" in French that I happened to wing with luck didn't really help the joy. My group won the Team Grammar Challenge in Finnish class though :D School ends at four and I rush to dance practice.

Thank god for these things!

Am I the only one who thinks that the guy is slightly manic? :D

Hell yea, this is what we do during skiphour

Coke saves the day <3
Oh yeah, Coke vs. Pepsi? Coke all the way. Hands down one of the most awesome sodas around.
AND I LEARNED TO DO A FRENCH BRAID AND A FIVE-TAIL BRAID TOO, wohoooooo! My braid-expert of a friend showed me, gosh she has some magic touch with hair! Her braids are always so gorgeous! I'm getting there, just wait......

it's just another lonely sunday

<3

Got some shopping done today, so happy with my purchases!

Black silk dress 24,90€ H&M
Black flats 24,80€ K-Kenkä
White woolly hat 14,90€ Aleksi 13

This dress is my dream come true. I'd found it ages ago and fell in love with it, but then it couldn't be found in stores anymore and I was so bummed! Today though, by some miracle, there it was: the same dress in my size and the last one left. So so so happy :)
Every girl should have their own LBD, because a little black dress can save you out of any situation: you can go dressy, edgy, vintage, or casual with it depending on your accessories and such :) For example a jean jacket with a pair of converses can turn your outfit fun and casual, while some heels make you look like your ready for the red carpet. Deeply recommended!

So versatile, so cute. Need I say more? I invested in these black flats, because good quality will last longer. Also, these are super comfortable and go with anything! :) I wouldn't be able to live without a pair.

It is Eid today, so Eid Mubarak to all muslims! :)

j'adore les maths, c'est genial

Agreed :)

Had a study session with some other pre-IBers, and I've had my fair share of mathematics for a looong time. Exam week is soon too. Crap. At least there was good company :) That made up for the brain damage due to too much of quadratic graphs and inequalities.

I swear it is way too dark in this country, I mean c'mon Finland, some light would be nice! It's only November and I feel like the daylight hours are from 11-15 :( So it's freezing AND dark during winters. Oh joy! Ressu is a pretty old school too, so my guess is that the students will end up learning with their jackets on because there won't be a proper heating system.

Free candy kids, free candy

Did you know that a strawberry has an average of 200 seeds? Fruit Ninja provides wonderfully random facts about fruit and great entertainment. Try it :D

Saturdays are the best. So chill!

pear smoothies are good

friday, perjantai, vendredi.....JES

I love my Friday schedule, school ends at 10:55 because I only have math and psychology in the morning ;) No but seriously, who the hell decides to place math at 8:10 on the FRIDAY morning for our timetables?? My brain isn't functioning at that time, except for 1+1 math (which it might still fail due to a short attention-span) and I am too tired to care. I can count my fingers, which gets you pretty far in life :)

 Ain't that beautiful?

Psychology was really interesting too, a presentation on psychopaths and a small documentary on an obedience experiment (Milford's ?) that was quite shocking and kinda unethical in my opinion :o I lovelovelove the subject though, and it might be something I want to do in the future :) People's mind, behavior, and such are fascinating things. I mean humans are so weird, they're interesting to look at, wouldn't you say so? ;)

The cover for my psychology notebook :D

After the short schoolday, I visited Tilu (Tikkurilan lukio) to see my IB-friend Mina from my upper secondary school ISV :) It was refreshing having a laugh at McDonalds and hanging around Tikkurila for the evening, boredom never even crossed me. I swear the Tilu campus is AMAAAZING, so modern and gorgeous, I was thisclose to putting Tilu IB as my first choice when I was applying from 9th grade just because of the building. So many of my old friends are there too. But I didn't :D

I feel like waffles with maple syrup. Or filled crepes with ice cream. Damn, now I'm hungry, but then again when am I not? The weekend is here and I'm gonna sleep, sleep, sleeeep. You kinda get deprived of sleep when you're in the IB and manage to procrastinate everything :D

Can't you hear that boom ba doom doom boom ba doom doom bass, he got that super bass
Boom ba doom doom boom ba doom doom bass, yea that's that super bass

hello world, how you doin' ?

Time flies.

my adorable oldie clock necklace, a favorite :)

It's November already, and I feel like while everything else has moved forward, I've been stuck in this odd in-between stage of going with the flow but also being able to stop and look back at past days with extreme vividness. People who I can still recall just meeting have become so important to me in such a short time, school has been rolling pretty good (though the workload threatens to stampede all over me), and life in general is all gooooooood. :)

Superquick synopsis of my day:
Rushed morning, slept on the school bench, had cheesecake made by my wonderful classmate, being absolutely useless and disruptive in french class, thinking of a great idea for movie class, and then having a nice chat on the way home :)

ps. i actually finished my math homework before 9pm :o im getting the stuff we're doing and hopefully this streak of understanding will continue when we dig deeper into the confusing pile of logarithms :s

More later, this was a test run!

It's been ages since I've last blogged, but due to following many wonderful and unique blogs, I've decided to give this a go again. We'll see how it turns out (in other words see how long I can last before turning lazy again). :D
